Inspiring, traditional, and unique…The Masonic delivers a Memorable Wedding Experience

eschmidt04[2]A wedding at The Masonic is sure to create memorable moments for a wedding. Coordinator Melanie Matics provides a one-of-a-kind, individualized, custom wedding experience. The venue includes several options for weddings and receptions.  Shannon and Craig chose to have their ceremony in the historic chapel, a replica of the Westminster Abbey.  Though on a smaller scale, the chapel still seats 400 people, includes a balcony and provides a classic and historic surrounding.  We sat in the balcony which allowed our performance of the couple’s choice of contemporary songs to float down and fill the stone chapel.  We played the Israel Kamakawiwoʻole version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for the seating of the mothers and entrance of the groomsmen. The bridesmaids walked in to “A Thousand Years” while Shannon entered on her father’s arm to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.  The flowers were the creation of Pam Sullivan from Blumz Florist and were stunning. Shannon’s bouquet was composed of calla lilies with black feathers which tied into the bridesmaids black gowns. After the pronouncement of husband and wife, the couple recessed to the Beatles song “All You Need is Love”.

The Crystal Ballroom is classic beauty rich in Italian décor. We sat upstairs in the balcony and played for an additional hour while guests enjoyed the cocktail hour. The guests really enjoyed our Beatles and Journey songs. Shannon and Craig had a movie themed reception and requested Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Skyfall to fit within their theme.  Mike Staff Productions provided the photography services and music for the reception. Their reputation is superb and ensures a memorable event. Congratulations Craig and Shannon and best wishes for a long and happy life together!

Come Dream with Me As I Have Dreamed of You

20161218_173222It was a gorgeous setting in the Conservatory of the Royal Park Hotel for Raquel and Chris’s wedding the week prior to Christmas. The couple designed all the table décor and alter area themselves. We were struck by the elegance and uniqueness of each table that maintained a theme of the couple’s interests. While the room was beautifully appointed, the help of their friend Susan Korwin, and the Royal Park Coordinator, Janet Engelhardt, insured that the remaining elements proceeded smoothly.20161218_173255

We had the pleasure of playing for the ceremony, cocktails and through the dinner. Classical music was an excellent complement to the ceremony in the Conservatory. We played the music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Debussy.  Raquel was stunning in a Christmas red gown as she processed to Bach’s Arioso.  Before Chris’s vows he told Raquel that “I won your heart with poetry” and proceeded to recite poetic verse as his vows. Prior to the exchange of rings, Raquel’s daughter, Gabrielle Kitto, sang a sweet acapella  rendition of Barbara Streisand’s “I’ve Dreamed of You”.  With these two touching moments, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.20161218_173759

Following the ceremony, we played a wide variety of Christmas, contemporary and nostalgic music. We took a few requests and accompanied Chris and Raquel’s first dance with “What a Wonderful World”.  We had a great time and enjoyed being a part of this family’s celebration. Congratulations to Chris and Raquel!

Weber’s Inn Provides a Elegant Wedding Experience for Susan and Joel

editCongratulations to Susan and Joel on their wedding at Weber’s Inn in Ann Arbor. Known for its discriminating taste for comfortable elegance, the couple held their ceremony and reception in the Atrium Dining room.  Beautiful flowers graced each table and while lush bouquets set the stage for the alter area.  The family and bridal party walked down to Canon in D while Susan processed with her mother to Purcell’s Trumpet Voluntary. Pamela Swider of PS I Love You Ceremonies officiated the ceremony which included two readings and a unity candle during which we played La Vie en Rose.  We’ve had the pleasure of working with Pamela before and appreciate her attention to detail.  She was a great help with cues along with the superb staff of Weber’s Inn who helpful and accommodating.  We understand that the couple will be enjoying a honeymoon in Hawaii and wish them the very best as they begin this new adventure together.20161112_164214

“A New Family of Faith Has Been Forged In Our Sight”

20161015_124845Daniel and Katlyn were married in their beautiful home church of Our Lady of Fatima in Michigan Center recently. The church is full of light and adorned with panels of stained glass windows. Father Tim MacDonald shared many tender words including “We watched them grow up together, now we will watch them grow old together”. Katlyn’s younger brother was the server throughout the ceremony which made it all a bit more special.

Music Director and organist, Jeff Mausolf, was helpful with cues and we had the pleasure of playing “Here I Am Lord” with him during the communion. The talents of Angel’s Floral was on display with the bouquets and alter arrangements. Photographer Justine Castle was on hand to capture all the special moments.  Best wishes to Katlyn and Daniel!

A Time for Glad Hearts and Joyful Spirits

20160917_101235What a pleasure it was to return to The Whitney for Cassie and Stephen’s wedding. We’ve played there twice this month and always enjoy working with Samantha Cesarz as she is  helpful with cues and keeps things running smoothly. Playing in the beautiful mansion is just a joy. The wood throughout the home creates great acoustics and our sound can be heard from every floor and room. Once again, Denise Tucker of Perfect Day Celebrations was on hand and conducted a beautiful ceremony. The couple’s son, Sebastian, and the flower girl had a grand time parading across the landing during the ceremony. After they were pronounced husband and wife, we moved to the first floor and played through brunch. We had the pleasure of playing for “Can’t Help Falling in Love” for the couple’s first dance and then “I’ll Be There” for the Parents Dance. We had several guests and even some staff members stop by to complement our contemporary and Mo-town selections.  Photographer Colleen Newman there doing fabulous work capturing all the wonderful moments and the beauty of the historical mansion.  We wish this new family the very best as they start this new adventure together.

A 21st Century Love Story: The Crazy Yank and The Crazy Brit

20160918_155248Congratulations to Carrie and Pat on their wedding at the Dearborn Inn on a beautiful late summer day. Tucked into the grounds of the Inn and surrounded by lush gardens, the gazebo was a beautiful place for an outdoor wedding. Officiant Denise Tucker of  Perfect Day Celebrations,  told Carrie and Peter’s story before conducting the hand fasting ceremony and exchange or rings. We’ve worked with Denise many times now and always enjoy the way she personalizes the ceremony to the couple.  It’s clear that she’s taken the time to know them. The couple chose an eclectic array of music for their ceremony. We played Debussy’s Clair de al Lune, O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini along with Here Comes the Sun and All You Need is Love by the Beatles. Douglas Rae read “Love” by Erich Fried which beings with the line, “I love you, not only for what you are but for what I am when I am with you.”  It was clear that this couple shares a tender romance but also a great sense of humor. Denise spoke of penguins and implied that the cake would reflect this fun bit of the couple’s history. We send our best wishes to these self-proclaimed giggling and grinning geeks as they begin their married lives together.

Rain Holds Off for UMich Scientists on Their Wedding Day

20160917_140558Stephanie and Adam had great luck as the rain which threatened throughout the day held off long enough that they could have their dream wedding at the Millpond Park in Fenton. Friend and colleague Matt Beyersdorf directed his first ever ceremony and did a fantastic job keeping the proceedings moving smoothly and handling the event with grace and humor. While the couple kept their music choices to the traditional during the ceremony, The Game of Thrones theme was their choice for the recessional and showed their adventurous side. This was the type of wedding day that involved all the family members in the planning and execution. Joy and true friendship was evident among the two families and their guests.  Best wishes to Adam and Stephanie as they begin the journey as husband and wife.

Like a Race Car, The Fine Tuning of A Relationship Takes This Couple Across the Finish Line!

20160917_102906The love of two people and race cars were clearly present in Lachelle and Mike’s wedding at The Whitney in Detroit.  Pastor Paul Moldenhauer took every opportunity to make a correlation between Lachelle’s career and the joys of marriage.  The setting for the wedding ceremony was the 2nd floor landing of the Whitney under the gorgeous two-story Tiffany stained glass window. With the help of Samantha Cesarz, wedding coordinator at the Whitney, the event went off without a hitch.

The Whitney mansion is world famous for upscale dining in Detroit.  Completed in 1894, the Motor City landmark retains the exquisite charm of Detroit’s early upper echelon as a venue for all to enjoy.  The Mansion is 22,000 square feet and has 52 rooms (including 10 bathrooms), 218 windows, 20 fireplaces and numerous stained-glass windows crafted by Tiffany’s of New York It was the first residential home in Detroit to have an elevator for personal use, a hydraulic number.20160917_101306

The music that the couple chose was especially fitting for this historic turn of the century setting. We played the old romantic standards of Ella Fitzgerald, Andy Williams and Frank Sinatra. Lachelle chose a hymn, O Perfect Love, for her bridal processional and then the fun, “When I’m 64” by the Beatles for the recessional.  It was the ideal blend between the old and new.  Petite Fleur of Ferndale created gorgeous floral arrangements that fit the  historic setting of the Whitney.  And Jennifer Boris was on hand to capture all the beautiful moments in this grand setting.  Best wishes to Lachelle and Mike as they begin their lives together.

The Carriage House At Pine Knob Provides Picturesque Backdrop For Outdoor Wedding

Pine Knob in Clarkston offers two banquet facilities; The Mansion and The Carriage House.  Built in 1927, The Carriage House originally housed the caretaker’s family for Colonel Waldon’s estate. The property has been transformed into a unique contemporary banquet facility with crystal chandeliers and picturesque floor to ceiling windows. While overlooking the golf course it also provides an outside pavilion for a one of a kind ceremony. The wooded golf course adds a breathtaking backdrop, with beautiful displays of nature at its finest.

Ben and Valarie chose to hold their outdoor wedding under the pavilion overlooking the golf course. Kurt Colone of Mike Staff Productions, was very helpful with cues. The bridesmaids wore a shimmering copper colored gown and walked with the groomsmen, flower girl and ring bearer to Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring. Valarie wore a stunning gown and walked with her father to Pachelbel’s Kanon in D. Jason Blazet, Ben’s stepfather, officiated the ceremony and spoke eloquently about the couple, their charming son, Hunter, and the formation of this new family. The couple selected contemporary music for the prelude and postlude. “Don’t Stop Believin” was Ben’s special request and we’re glad he was able to hear it. Love Story by Taylor Swift was played for their recessional followed by Starlight by Muse. Both generated compliments from several guests. We wish Ben, Valarie and Hunter a lifetime of happiness.
