Two Souls with But a Single Thought, Two Hearts That Beat As One

20170708_130432Congratulations to Kyle and Apurva on their wedding at the Diamond Center at Suburban Collection.  Coordinator Rajul Pillai choreographed the day in such a way that it ran smoothly and looked elegantly luscious! Venue coordinator Bridget Polsinelli helped us immensely with the complexity of cues. We played a collection of contemporary 20170708_130350music selected by the couple for both the seating of guests and during the ceremony.  Kyle and his parents entered the decorated hall to Viva La Vida while Apurva and her parents walked to We Found Love by Rhianna.  The room was beautifully appointed and following the ceremony the couple departed in a decorated carriage to the cheers and well wishes of their guests. Photographer Rosy and Shaun20170708_130638 along with Complete Video were on hand to capture all the tender moments.  It was an elegant day for the couple and we thank them for the opportunity to be a part of their beautiful wedding day.

A Special Couple Creates an Intimate Wedding with Distinctive Style

20170604_145655We had a delightful experience recently with a lovely couple, Kevin and Dawn, who were married in the Michigan Union Courtyard by Stacey Swickerath of A Simple Ceremony and celebrated in the Union’s Pendleton room. Kevin and Dawn were fun to work with from the first email exchange as it was clear that they had the right perspective on how to plan and prioritize their wedding day. Involving Ana Skidmore of Two Foot Creative and Liz Stotz of Parsonage Events enabled the couple to incorporate all of their unique ideas together into a phenomenal night.

Kevin and Dawn kept the ceremony traditional in many ways including the use of classical music for the seating of guests. But when it came to the processional and recessional, they allowed their musical taste to take center stage. Our fantastic arranger, Matthew Croft, worked with Kevin and Dawn in arranging the two songs, “M79” by Vampire Weekend for the processional and “Birdhouse In Your Soul” by They Might Be Giants for the couple’s recessional.  20170604_151254

When it came time for the cocktail hour and dinner, the couple took the time in the weeks preceding the wedding to poll their guests and ask for the song titles that they would like to hear.  We thought this was a fantastic idea and highlighted the couples awareness and consideration for their guests. The response was as varied and eclectic as their guest list. We played hits from the Beatles, Journey, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga along with nostalgic songs such as La Vie en Rose, At Last and Mack the Knife.  Contemporary songs were also present with Such Great Heights by Postal Service and Royals by Lorde.

20170604_165336Parsonage Events created architecturally intriguing trees for the table centerpieces and the food served by Michigan Union Catering Service was outstanding! It was no surprise to discover at the end of the evening that Kevin has a long history with music and musicians.

Kevin and Dawn are a memorable couple and it was a sincere pleasure to be a part of their wedding day. Best wishes!  20170604_165358

Freddy the Dog Joins the Wedding!

20170521_152802We had the pleasure of playing at Cornman Farms in Dexter  for Sheila and Jacob’s wedding day.  This unique venue offers guests an exclusive experience on 42 acres of pastoral charm.  Though there was initial concern about rain, the sky cleared enabling the ceremony to be held on the front steps of the farmhouse. Officiated by Denise Tucker of Perfect Day Celebrations, family and friends had a beautiful view of the couple from the lawn.  Freddy the dog had a special seat for the ceremony which for a short time was on the train of Sheila’s gown! 20170521_152744

The bridal party walked to the Israel Kamakawiwo’ole version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow while Sheila chose the more traditional Kanon in D for her processional.  Kaeli Garcia from Luna Soiree and Maiyan, coordinator at Cornman along with their wonderful staff made sure it all looked beautiful and helped us with cues.  The couple recessed to the Beatles hit, “Here Comes the Sun” followed by a cocktail hour and reception in the barn. Best wishes to Jacob, Sheila and of course, Freddy.

Inspiring, traditional, and unique…The Masonic delivers a Memorable Wedding Experience

eschmidt04[2]A wedding at The Masonic is sure to create memorable moments for a wedding. Coordinator Melanie Matics provides a one-of-a-kind, individualized, custom wedding experience. The venue includes several options for weddings and receptions.  Shannon and Craig chose to have their ceremony in the historic chapel, a replica of the Westminster Abbey.  Though on a smaller scale, the chapel still seats 400 people, includes a balcony and provides a classic and historic surrounding.  We sat in the balcony which allowed our performance of the couple’s choice of contemporary songs to float down and fill the stone chapel.  We played the Israel Kamakawiwoʻole version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for the seating of the mothers and entrance of the groomsmen. The bridesmaids walked in to “A Thousand Years” while Shannon entered on her father’s arm to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.  The flowers were the creation of Pam Sullivan from Blumz Florist and were stunning. Shannon’s bouquet was composed of calla lilies with black feathers which tied into the bridesmaids black gowns. After the pronouncement of husband and wife, the couple recessed to the Beatles song “All You Need is Love”.

The Crystal Ballroom is classic beauty rich in Italian décor. We sat upstairs in the balcony and played for an additional hour while guests enjoyed the cocktail hour. The guests really enjoyed our Beatles and Journey songs. Shannon and Craig had a movie themed reception and requested Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Skyfall to fit within their theme.  Mike Staff Productions provided the photography services and music for the reception. Their reputation is superb and ensures a memorable event. Congratulations Craig and Shannon and best wishes for a long and happy life together!

Award Winning Frutig Farms Hosts Sons Wedding Celebration

20161126_161718Congratulations to Edward and Melissa on their wedding at Frutig Farms in Ann Arbor. This was a family affair from start to finish as Edward is the son of Kelly and Ed, Frutig Farms owners.  Barn weddings have become very popular in the last ten years.  They offer clients a unique blend of history with the space for large wedding parties. The open simplicity provides clients with a blank slate for implementing their own design ideas.  Recently awarded the 2016 Best Venue for Large Weddings in Ann Arbor, Frutig Farms is a beautiful outdoor venue six miles from downtown Ann Arbor. The site overlooks a gorgeous pond set against natural wetlands and rolling fields. Uniquely restored historic buildings sit amongst beautiful perennial gardens. The couple chose to have their ceremony in one of the two barns known as The Valley and Edwards’s father acted as the officiant. It must have been an honor and delight for him to lead the couple through their vows to the pronouncement of husband and wife.  Barb Thayer was the coordinator and directed the day beautifully.  We sat up in the loft and had an excellent view of the proceedings. The couple chose all classical music for their ceremony including the Purcell Trumpet Voluntary for Melissa’s processional.

The cocktail hour and reception was held at Misty Farm, the second barn of the Frutig Farm holdings. At Melissa and Edward’s request, we played songs by Coldplay, Pharrell, Journey, Game of Thrones, Katy Perry and more. Larry Lee and Back In the Day were setting up for the reception which was sure to be a fantastic evening. We extend our thanks to the band for their help with sound and their encouraging applause.  We wish we could have stayed to hear their music! Congratulations to Edward and Melissa and we thank them for the honor of being a part of their wedding day and family’s celebration.

Known for its discriminating taste for comfortable elegance, the couple held their ceremony and reception in the Atrium Dining room.  Beautiful flowers graced each table and while lush bouquets set the stage for the alter area.  The family and bridal party walked down to Canon in D while Susan processed with her mother to Purcell’s Trumpet Voluntary. Pamela Swider of PS I Love You Ceremonies officiated the ceremony which included two readings and a unity candle during which we played La Vie en Rose.  We’ve had the pleasure of working with Pamela before and appreciate her attention to detail.  She was a great help with cues along with the superb staff of Weber’s Inn who helpful and accommodating.  We understand that the couple will be enjoying a honeymoon in Hawaii and wish them the very best as they begin this new adventure together.20161112_164214

Officiant Shares Words of Wisdom: “Love is About Participation”

201310180800261Nichole Bertucci of “A Simple I Do” shared profound words of wisdom during Calla and Tyler’s wedding ceremony at the historic Hartland Music Hall. Included among those wise word was the phrase “Love is not about possession but participation.”

Hartland Music Hall was built by members of the First Congregational Church in 1858. It is one the oldest public buildings in Livingston County, an outstanding example of Greek Revival architecture.  The building was a gift to the community of Hartland from John Robert Crouse, Sr. M. Crouse was a local philanthropist who performed many community services through a program he sponsored called the “Hartland Area Project.”  In February 1980, the Music Hall became another Livingston County structure to be included in the State Register of Historic Sites by the Michigan Historical Commission. A dedicated steward and renovator of the hall, Don, was on hand for Calla and Tyler’s ceremony and proved to be a great help along with the Ashley from Festoons and Flourishes.                                                                              20161022_152324

Tyler and Calla chose an eclectic mix of music for their ceremony. We played “Wagon Wheel”, John Legend’s “All of Me”, the nostalgic “Moon River” and the traditional “Pachelbel’s Canon”.  During the lighting of the Unity candle, we accompanied their two friends Andrea and Katie on a beautiful rendition of “So Are You To Me”, arranged for our string quartet by well known arranger and conductor, Matthew Croft.  In a  statement of their affection for their alma mater, the couple chose the MSU Fight Song for their recessional. Congratulations Calla and Tyler!

“A New Family of Faith Has Been Forged In Our Sight”

20161015_124845Daniel and Katlyn were married in their beautiful home church of Our Lady of Fatima in Michigan Center recently. The church is full of light and adorned with panels of stained glass windows. Father Tim MacDonald shared many tender words including “We watched them grow up together, now we will watch them grow old together”. Katlyn’s younger brother was the server throughout the ceremony which made it all a bit more special.

Music Director and organist, Jeff Mausolf, was helpful with cues and we had the pleasure of playing “Here I Am Lord” with him during the communion. The talents of Angel’s Floral was on display with the bouquets and alter arrangements. Photographer Justine Castle was on hand to capture all the special moments.  Best wishes to Katlyn and Daniel!
