20160916_083458

We received a tremendous honor this week!  The Knot is an online site that provides vendor information, reviews and ideas for every possible aspect of ones wedding day. Each year, this online wedding site holds a “best of weddings” competition.  Reviews from former clients are the way in which you accumulate votes.  We are so proud to have been a winner of the Best of Weddings for several years running.  This Hall of Fame trophy was awarded to us for having been voted the “BEST” by real newlyweds four or more times. While the trophy is lovely, its the fact that our former clients are so pleased with our string quartet services that they will take the time to write us a glowing review. Our 5 Star designation, the highest possible, is a point of pride for us.  We consider it an honor to be a part of any couples wedding day and work diligently to provide the best possible musical experience.  The music is a critical part of a wedding day and one that should hold memories for the newlyweds and guests alike. Hope Chapel Proves that Small Wedding Venues Offer Great Benefits

3841 One of this year’s hottest wedding trends is an intimate wedding! As many couples have discovered, there are great reasons, beyond the financial savings, to simplify your big day. The challenge is finding a venue that offers the amenities you need within an environment that allows you create the desired intimate setting.  For years, the wedding industry has been focused on the “bigger is better” idea.  It takes an open mind and a keen eye to discover those special venues that cater to smaller numbers.

The Knot offers this insight about intimate weddings: “There is a real focus on the guest experience right now, and this is the ultimate for a guest.” Personalized details become more manageable when you’re creating them for a few.  Having fewer guests at your wedding allows you to spend more quality time with each of them.  Visiting 10 tables as opposed to 50 means you will get the greetings accomplished in a shorter time during your wedding reception allowing you to enjoy the dancing, drinking and fun of celebrating with your guests!

Couples today are juggling many responsibilities including work, school and families. As anyone who has been through it can tell you, planning a wedding is a huge job!  Keeping it small lowers your stress and often creates a wedding experience that comes across as much more romantic!3846

To create their intimate wedding day, Sarah and Alan chose the beautiful Hope Chapel in the Shelby Township Municipal Center to hold their wedding ceremony. The Hope Chapel was built in 1890 and originally known as the Hope United Methodist Church of Disco, Michigan.  In August of 1997, the Church agreed to donate the building to Shelby Township.

Sarah is a Disney fan and filled her prelude with some of the classic movie tunes such as Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and A Dream is A Wish. Chaplin Captain Paul Lepley of Lansing officiated the ceremony which included our playing Eagles Wings during the Unity Candle. He spoke beautifully about the scripture Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 as it relates to married life.  Shelby Township provides a staff member to assist and Jennifer did a great job helping us with cues and keeping the ceremony running smoothly. Vivianos provided the stunning flower arrangements while JS Photography and Complete Video transformed the event into memorable keepsakes. Lavadas Limousine was on hand to transport the bridal party tot he reception where JD Entertainment took over the celebration! It was a memorable day filled with best wishes for Sarah and Alan!

“Your Glory” – Couple Weaves Together Faith and History at Packard Proving Ground Wedding

IMG_2312Darlene and Tyler exchanged vows on the elm shaded boulevard of the Packard Proving Ground in Shelby Township this past 4th of July.   In the late 1920’s The Packard Proving Grounds consisted of a 2.5-mile (4.0 km) high-speed concrete oval track with timing tower, miles of test roads of various conditions, an airplane hangar (Packard was also involved in developing aircraft engines, and used the track’s infield as a landing strip), a repair garage, and a gate house/lodge that housed the Proving Grounds manager and his family. Noted Detroit architect Albert Kahn was retained to design the buildings of the facility, which was opened in 1928.  Among the buildings he designed, the Tudor Revival lodge building had garage space for eight cars, plus dormitory rooms for visiting engineers.  During World War II, the Chrysler Corporation leased the entire Proving Grounds to test tanks and other armored vehicles, and constructed a new building on the site that was capable of servicing tanks. 163287_142984229091220_7280422_n-604x270

Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Tyler and Darlene used this unique venue to hold their “Great Gatsby” themed wedding.  The bridesmaids wore elegant beaded gowns representative of the era and Darlene’s gown was also of that time period.  The ceremony was led by Pastor Chris Rea of Community Christian Church of Sterling Heights.  The ceremony opened with Phil and Amanda singing “Your Glory” followed by Tyler and Darlene taking communion and sharing the intimate gift of “foot washing” imitating the love and humility Jesus showed his disciples when he washed their feet.  It was a spiritually moving moment for all present and the first time that we have seen it demonstrated in a wedding ceremony.  Pastor Rea shared with guests a list that Tyler had written at the age of 14 of the qualities he was looking for in his “dream girl”.  It was yet another tender moment laced with humor that revealed the depth of this couples faith and spiritual life.  The reception was held in the Packard garage and decorated in true Gatsby style with feathers.  We played music of the era in the courtyard and entertained guests with “Ain’t Misbehavin’, Rhapsody in Blue, At Last, Cheek to Cheek, Puttin’ on the Ritz and more.   The 7 piece band, Newsmaker, followed us and had the crowd on their feet for an evening of dancing.

Megan Rea, wife of Pastor Rea, acted as wedding coordinator and did a fabulous job.  Her organization and follow through was excellent.  This is facility is in it’s second year as a wedding venue. Mary Ann has done a phenomenal job promoting the facilities we anticipate it will skyrocket in its popularity.  IMG_2313IMG_2311

Cherry Creek Banquet Center Creates Elegant Winter Wedding Setting

unnamedAs the picture shows, Cherry Creek Golf Club in Shelby Township knows how to create an elegant setting for a winter wedding. The conservatory, with it’s wall of windows, makes for a picturesque background for any wedding. The twinkling lights outside adds to the feeling of warmth and intimacy within the ceremony. It was here that Maegan and Jeffrey were married by Sherry Mullins of Joyful Celebrations assisted by venue coordinator Janelle Braniecki and Steve of Creative Events. The couple put their guests in a romantic state of mind with the music of “Moon River”, Marry Me by Train, A Thousand Years, Hallelujah and the popular Kanon in D.
This was a fun loving group of people who were there to celebrate the union of two good friends. We played fun, upbeat contemporary selections for the cocktail hour and the guests were clearly having a great time. Congratulations to Jeffrey and Maegan and may there be many “fun” years ahead!

Family Doesn’t Allow Delay To Impact Wedding Celebration

Brides and mothers of brides often talk about the stress of planning a wedding.  There are so many variables and opportunities for problems.  Sometimes even the most organized can be impacted by human error. Amanda and Matthew planned a beautiful wedding at Stony Creek Metro Park.  Scripture readings were selected along great music.  The works of Pachelbel, Handel, Tchaikovsky and even the contemporary sounds of Postal Service and Mumford and Sons were used in the ceremony.

Unfortunately, a vendor error caused a delay in the wedding.  Family and friends stepped right in and brought out water and drinks for the guests.  Shuttle transportation was provided for those who wished to return to the banquet tent.  Though the wedding started later than originally intended, everyone maintained their good spirits.  What a testimony to this family and their ability to remain calm under pressure!  With such an approach to life, Matthew and Amanda are sure to have a successful marriage.

“Best Day Ever” is the Birth of a New Family

6.7.14.3Congratulations to Nicole and Scott.  Over our twenty five years in the wedding industry, we’ve seen all types of wedding ceremonies and unions.  Most are young couples starting a new chapter.  Some involve children and the creation of a new family.  Scott and Nicole’s wedding was a lovely celebration honoring individuality and the creation of a family.  After the mothers were seated to “It Had To Be You”, Scott and his daughter walked down to “All You Need Is Love” followed by the bridal parties entrance to “In My Life”.  Clearly an appreciator of the Beatles, Nicole made her entrance to “Here Comes The Sun”.  Juliea Karolinski officiated and brought humor and tenderness to the ceremony.  The couple chose Bob Marley’s “One Love” for their recessional.  What a great song!!  It is our newest addition to our play list of over 700 titles.

A good coordinator is worth her weight in gold and Janelle Braniecki of Cherry Creek was fantastic.  The couple had a unique situation arise that required fast thinking and flexibility.  Janelle handled it with calm and efficiency.

We wish this beautiful new family all the best as they begin this new chapter!

Historic Chapel Setting for “Classical” Wedding

IMG_1261Congratulations to Jessica and Maxime who were married at the Hope Chapel in Shelby Township. The Hope Chapel was originally known as the Hope United Methodist Church of Disco, Michigan. It was located on the west side of Van Dyke north of 24 Mile road. While the town’s name extinguished over the years, the congregation continued to grow. In August of 1997, the Committee learned that The Hope United Methodist Church members decided to build a new church. The Historical Committee recognized the significance of the old building and wanted to preserve it.

We had the pleasure of playing many classical selections such as for their prelude as guests were arriving including “Sonntag” by Brahms, “The Swan” by Saint Saens and “Pie Jesu” by Faure. We wish to thank Pam, coordinator the Hope Chapel, for her cues and assistance. Congratulations to Maxime and Jessica as they begin their lives together.

Wedding in the Woods Escapes the Threat of Rain at Stony Creek Metropark

IMG_0991IMG_0993Congratulations to Jessica and Stephen on their wedding at Stony Creek Metropark. We were concerned about this outdoor wedding in a wooded Pinegrove as there had been thunderstorms earlier in the day. However, a fortunate break in the weather allowed for a charming wedding in the woods. Metropolitan Shuttle transported guests from the reception tent by the boat launch to the chapel in the woods. The flower bouquets were especially lovely and we were not surprised to discover that they were the work of Viviano’s Florist. They always prepare phenomenal arrangements. The couple chose “Colors of the Wind” for the mother’s seating. Officiant John MacDonald directed a spiritual service. We had the pleasure of working with two talented musicians. Jeff Acton, pianist at The Woods Church in Warren, performed “Come Thou Font” with us for the processional. Fortunately for us, Brett Cummins of Motor City HDJ was on hand and helped us and Jeff with a power source and speaker system. He was indispensable and we send our thanks out to him! The guests enjoyed the Motor City sounds during the reception. During the sand ceremony and communion, Joey Ramirez, a college friend of Jessica’s, played a beautiful Christian song. The couple recessed to “When You Wish Upon a Star” and was transported back to the tent for an evening’s reception. We send our best wishes to Jessica and Stephen as they begin married life together.

Wedding 5.18 005Wedding 5.18 002Wedding 5.18 001Congratulations to Elizabeth and Mark on their beautiful wedding day at Brentwood Golf Club in White Lake Township. The weather has been quite mercurial this spring but for this day it was perfect for an outdoor wedding. The couple chose a collection of love songs for their ceremony including “What a Wonderful World”, “In My Life” by the Beatles, “Come Away with Me” by Nora Jones and “All of My Love” for their recessional. Purple is a fun color for weddings and the bridesmaids wore it well complimented by gorgeous flower bouquets. Jerry Domeneck, of Brentwood Golf Club, was the coordinator and we send our thanks to her for all her help with cues. As the picture shows, dark and light purple pomanders lined the aisle. Our colleague, Stacy of Stacy & Co did the flowers and they were beautiful. She can always be counted on to do a top notch job. We send our best wishes to Liz and Mark as they begin their lives together.
