Come Dream with Me As I Have Dreamed of You

20161218_173222It was a gorgeous setting in the Conservatory of the Royal Park Hotel for Raquel and Chris’s wedding the week prior to Christmas. The couple designed all the table décor and alter area themselves. We were struck by the elegance and uniqueness of each table that maintained a theme of the couple’s interests. While the room was beautifully appointed, the help of their friend Susan Korwin, and the Royal Park Coordinator, Janet Engelhardt, insured that the remaining elements proceeded smoothly.20161218_173255

We had the pleasure of playing for the ceremony, cocktails and through the dinner. Classical music was an excellent complement to the ceremony in the Conservatory. We played the music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Debussy.  Raquel was stunning in a Christmas red gown as she processed to Bach’s Arioso.  Before Chris’s vows he told Raquel that “I won your heart with poetry” and proceeded to recite poetic verse as his vows. Prior to the exchange of rings, Raquel’s daughter, Gabrielle Kitto, sang a sweet acapella  rendition of Barbara Streisand’s “I’ve Dreamed of You”.  With these two touching moments, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.20161218_173759

Following the ceremony, we played a wide variety of Christmas, contemporary and nostalgic music. We took a few requests and accompanied Chris and Raquel’s first dance with “What a Wonderful World”.  We had a great time and enjoyed being a part of this family’s celebration. Congratulations to Chris and Raquel!

Fern Hill Country Club Wedding and Reception

Under the shady canopy of trees at Fern Hill Country Club, two people and two cultures were brought together in matrimony last week. Our congratulations to Piret and Paul on their wedding ceremony and reception. Piret is a native of Estonia, a country located in the Baltic Region of Northern Europe. Paul and his family, natives of Detroit, have deep connections to classical music here in Detroit. As a result, we played well known classics for their wedding ceremony including Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto, Handel’s Passacaile, Vivaldi’s Spring and Handel’s Watermusic. The bridal party wore pastel pink or green dresses and carried pink tipped roses. The flower girl was especially charming in her matching green dress. Following the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the country club while we added the music of Brahms, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak and Khachaturian to our play list. We are especially thankful to Marsha, mother of the groom, who did an outstanding job planning the wedding as both Piret and Paul were living out of town in the months prior to the wedding. Her hard work and attention to detail was evident in the beauty of the ceremony and celebration. We wish the newly married couple the very best as they begin their lives together.

An Elegant Affair at Shenandoah Banquet and Conference Center

Congratulations to Reena and Soham who were married on May 30th. We had the pleasure of playing for their cocktail hour at Shenandoah Conference Center. Though currently living in New York City, the couple returned to Michigan to celebrate their wedding with family and friends. While the wedding party and guests enjoyed appetizers, we played a wide variety of music including the Theme from New York, They Way You Look Tonight and Unchained Melody.
The Shenandoah Banquet and Conference Center is gorgeous facility throughout which are themes drawn from ancient Babylonian architecture and design. The grand ballroom was beautifully decorated; each table graced with a centerpiece of white roses, hydrangeas and chrysanthemums. It was truly an elegant affair with a great deal of time and thought evident in the presentation. A special thank you to Dilip, a friend of the couple and the staff of Shendandoah. Our best wishes go out to Reena and Soham as they begin their married life together.
