Crofoot Ballroom Shines Again as a Great Wedding Venue

photo 2photo 3One of the pleasures of playing over 50 weddings a year is that our quartet gets to perform in the many churches, banquet centers and concert halls through the Detroit metro area. One of our favorite venues is the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac. Because they are set up as a concert venue, the sound and lighting staff are fabulous. Kristen, the venue coordinator, is knowledgeable and helpful every time we have the pleasure of playing there. For Erin and Marcus, the experience was no different. The alter area was set up on the stage and lovely Japanese lanterns hung from the ceiling. It transformed the hip concert venue into a chapel like setting. Meg Wilson, longtime friend of the quartet, officiated the ceremony. She has known the bride’s family for many years and it showed in her personal references and affection for Erin. The couple chose an eclectic collection of music for their ceremony. We played “The Rose” for the seating of the parents, “Open Arms” for Erin’s bridal processional and “The Prayer” from Camelot for the Unity Candle and “Viva la Vida” for their recessional. Erin had a special request for “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton for her bridesmaid’s processional. We were able to arrange and perform that for her. It’s worth mentioning that Erin had a guy friend in her bridal party. A trend we are seeing more frequently!
Following the ceremony, we moved to a separate room for the cocktail hour. Erin requested a mix of Mo-Town, Disney and classic rock. It’s always a pleasure to perform non-traditional music and surprise the guests. We had several people come up and comment on our classic rock renditions.
We recently had an opportunity to speak with the bride’s mother about her experience at the Crofoot. She shared with me that she was initially hesitant about a venue in downtown Pontiac but was totally thrilled with the helpfulness of the staff and thoroughness of security both before and during her daughter’s wedding. Again, we commend the Crofoot for their exceptional service and attention to client needs. Congratulations to Marcus and Erin and best wishes for a blessed marriage.
