Stormy Weather Changes Plans But Not the Celebration at Twin Lakes Wedding

Congratulations to Kelly and Eric on their wedding at Twin Lakes Golf and Swim Club in Oakland Township last weekend. This was originally planned as an outdoor wedding under the gazebo on the property but the weather had other plans. The storms rolled in and flexibility became the word for the day. We always encourage couples planning an outdoor ceremony to have a backup plan that they would be content with should the need arise. Often, the weather is threatening and the bride or groom just can’t let go of the “ideal” outdoor wedding. Such was not the case with Kelly and Eric. The decision was made early and a beautiful alter area and chapel like setting was created in the hall. Rather than allow this change of plans to be a damper on the day, everyone was joyful and celebrating the union of these two lovely people. The Womack’s has a violist in their family and as a result, a love of music. This was evident in the music they chose; Motown hits like Pretty Woman, My Girl, Don’t Stop Believin, and Unchained Melody along with Stand By me, Someone to Watch over You and more. The mothers were seated to “What a Wonderful World”, the bridal party processed to “I’ll Be There” and Kelly herself walked to “Bittersweet Symphony”. The minister, Eric Stenson, led a personal ceremony and added a special moment when he first introduced the couple and then led them in prayer. As he commented to me prior to the service, “It’s meaningful that the first thing Eric and Kelly will do as husband and wife is to pray together.”
Following the service, we had the pleasure of playing the cocktail hour. We performed a mix of classical, nostalgic and contemporary music. We even had the opportunity to play a special request, “You Raise Me Up”, for a guest and his wife. It’s always a delight to be able to perform a special request and we wish more people would ask. We have a wide repertoire and can fulfill most inquiries. We send our very best wishes to Kelly and Eric as they begin their lives together and a heartfelt thank you to the Womack family for their graciousness throughout the evening.
